Reflection:

Have you ever come to a place in life where it seems that everything around you is stamped with the inscription, “Hopeless?” What do you do when you are at your wits end and it seems as if nothing is working out in your favor? You have run out of options, no place to go, no one to turn to. You are all alone and you have encountered an impasse. What do you do and who do you turn to for help? Like the Prophet Jeremiah, he too can testify of his predicaments. For him, it seemed as if all was lost. A praying man halted by circumstances; he could not even get a prayer through to God. Darkness veils his face, and he is overwhelmed with the challenges that beset him. He floods his pillows with his tears, and perhaps in the stillness of the night, his lament fills the atmosphere around him: How long O Lord, how long? When will my portion come? Suddenly in the midst of his despair, the Word of the Lord came to him. How refreshing that must have been for him—Like a healing balm to the soul. Listen to the voice of God, “My unfailing love never ends! My mercies have kept you from complete destruction and they begin afresh every waking morning.” God is the one who sustains and gives hope for the days ahead. Are you experiencing a tough season and you cannot see your way clear? Do you feel as if you are running out of options? Perhaps, your silent plea to the Lord is just like Jeremiah’s. Cry out to the Lord in your night season, “How long O Lord, how Long? When will my portion come? God has a specific response for you. It is a word that will comfort and calm your fears and alleviate the distresses of your heart. It is a word that will stir up your faith so that you can trust in the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind. God’s Word is true. His Word is His covenant promise to those who believe on Him and call upon His name in truth. His tender mercies, that is His covenant and steadfast love will sustain you and keep you till the end. Weeping may endure for a night, but know this, that joy will come in the morning. The tender mercies of the Lord will sustain you, no matter the difficulties that you face. Out of your troubles, you too, like Jeremiah will rise up and say, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I hope in Him. The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him, He will reward you with the richness of His great grace and load you with an abundant measure of miracle blessings and breakthroughs. The sustaining Word of God! It is your refreshment at Lent!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Your tender mercies have brought me through. Help me to accept your will for my life in each situation that I encounter. Give me the courage and confidence to wait on You in those tough seasons and help me to accept Your promises as the guarantee that inspires hope
in me. I know that your compassions fail not. If it had not been for the Lord who was on my side, I would have perished at the hands of my adversary. But I find encouragement in knowing that your mercies are new each waking morning and I declare and decree Your greatness and Your goodness over my life and rejoice in Your faithfulness. Thank You Lord for honoring Your Word over my life. I pray these petitions, in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
