The Power of Your Words; Command Breakthroughs

Scripture:

“It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the rams’ horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him. And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: Shout, for the Lord has given you the city” (Josh. 6:5 & 16; NKJV).

Reflections:

God can only move upon what comes out of your mouth. The effectiveness of the command for your breakthrough lie in your allegiance to the Word of God—God’s promises which are rendered effective based on your obedience to His Word. Remember, it is not what you read out of the Word of God that changes your situations, rather it is what you speak out of the Word of God, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, that is what makes the difference. The spoken Word of God is what transforms lives; it is the very Word, when spoken with the Authority and Power of the Holy Spirit, that is what causes things to shift. It is the power of the Word of God in you that commands your breakthroughs. So, speak boldly the Word of God over yourself, loved ones and situations. There is a miracle just waiting to break forth in your favor. SPEAK IN CONFIDENCE WHAT THE LORD HAS REVEALED TO YOU OUT OF THE WORD OF GOD!

The children of Israel came to Jericho, a fortified city. History records it as the most ancient city in existence on the earth. The city itself only occupied roughly seven acres of land, and yet, the occupants depended on it for their safety. It was established for fear of the Israelites who were notorious for winning swift battles, because the Lord was with them. (If you hold your peace, God will fight your battles for you). When God is for you, no one can stand against you. So it was, that as Israel, came to the city of Jericho, that Joshua instructed them to maintain silence. You see when facing opposition, it is best to maintain silence, and not fall into the temptations for the lips to speak unbelieving words which can become a detriment to the mission. Prohibit demoralizing speech from your lips. For such words can either bind up progress or spur confusion, hence, Joshua ordered silence. The Lord says: “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.”

Can I offer this truth? Speaking forth the Word in faith must be your confidence, especially when you face opposition. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. Speaking out of terms can give the enemy one up on you. Speaking the word out of terms is like scattering your seed before its season. So, in silence, allow the Word to saturate your heart and mind. Allow it to develop pressure in you, so much so that when you open your mouth at the appointed time, that it is in the right season, it can be released with great power that can blow away any strong force out of your way, even your Jericho wall.

But also, there is another point that is worth mentioning here. The power of your words can unleash a mighty force when you heed the Lord’s command. First the ALARM—When you hear the sound of the trumpet: That is a word of preparation. It is a sound that calls everyone together. It announces readiness. It announces the time to go forth and take what belonged to you in the first place. Second, the people shall shout a great shout. That is the word that COMMANDS your breakthrough. A great shout! This is significant in its expression. This is not an ordinary shout. It is expressed in the classical Hebrew (Teruah), which is rendered as an ear-piercing great noise, a sound that cannot be ignored. It is likened unto the voice or sound of many waters; a great sound that paralyzes the enemy with fear; sound that confuses the enemy’s camp and renders their machinery inoperable and their hand ineffective.

Beloved, I am speaking to that voice within you; I am speaking to your strength; come forth and shout a great shout for your breakthrough. March around your Jericho and on the seventh round, shout a great shout, for the Lord has given you the city. You are about to POSSESS THE PROMISE! The Lord has given you all that the enemy stole from you. Shout out with the voice of triumph and command into manifestation your blessings! Shout, BREAKTHROUGH! BREAKTHROUGH! BREAKTHROUGH! You are more than a conqueror. Shout down the walls that have prevented you from realizing your blessings. SHOUT aloud for the restoration of your finances! SHOUT aloud for the healing of your body! SHOUT aloud for the restoration of your marriage and relationships! SHOUT aloud for the establishment of your job! SHOUT aloud for your promotion! SHOUT aloud for your strength and a peace of mind! SHOUT aloud for UNITY! SHOUT! SHOUT! SHOUT! Give God a praise. For He is worthy of the honor, all the glory and all the praise. SHOUT joyfully to the Lord, all the earth, break forth in song, rejoice and sing praises!

Points of Contemplation:

1. What have you been thinking about lately? What is at the tip of your tongue?
2. Have you identified your Jericho wall? What does it look like?
3. Does it intimidate you?
4. Do you feel like shouting out at times? What will it sound like? Do you worry that you are not strong enough to unleash the power and strength that can make a difference in your situation?
5. Pray to the Lord to empower you to speak forth the words at the right time that will command your breakthrough and give Him thanks!

Prayer:

O Lord, You are the Source of my strength. You are the strength of my life. I surrender my will and my way to you, and I ask you to strengthen me and grant me the boldness to speak in
confidence that powerful word that can make the difference in my life. Help me to hear Your voice and to obey Your Word for the appointed time. Enable me by the Power of Your Spirit to release that power that is in me to break down every wall that has prevented me from realizing all that you have for me. Give me a shout that will paralyze the enemy and render his plan inoperable. Grant me Your grace and mercy for the days ahead. I pray in the matchless and most holy name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
