Our Hope is in the Lord!
Our Hope is in the Lord!
Author: Pastor H. Bill Coker
December 09, 2020
Scripture:
“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in the Lord” (Psalm 39:7; NKJV).
- This is the season of Advent. Advent means, the coming of…, or the coming to…! It is a season of hope. A time of anticipations and expectations. This is a time that we’ll see God honor His promises to us.
- If we are hoping (Anticipating, expecting) for a thing, we cannot look back, but we must look ahead.
- Hope never looks back, it always looks ahead.
- Expectation is our determination to see God bring to pass what He promised.
- The promised hope is connected to our purpose.
- The promised hope gives us a unique identification in our purpose.
- Because it is God’s will that we fulfill our purposes in Him, the promise will be fulfilled at the appointed time!
At Advent, our ultimate hope must be in Jesus and His promise to us of everlasting life!
Take Action:
1. Do not limit your hope to temporal things; put your hope on things eternal.
2. Do not linger around things that will perish; seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and these things shall be added unto you. (Matt. 6:33).
3. Do not love the things of this world; love the things that are eternal, where dust and rust do not corrupt; where thieves do not break in and steal. Hope to the Lord for what is eternal.
Points of Reflection:
1. Pray to KNOW this hope that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2. Pray to GROW in this hope, by the grace of God.
3. Pray to FLOW in this hope that comes from heaven.
Jesus wants you to focus on Him Who is our eternal hope! The hope of this world is temporary and will pass away. But look to the eternal hope that is Jesus Christ our soon coming King. We will live together and forever with Him! Put your hope on things eternal!
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the hope that lies with me. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to realize that my hope is in My Lord Jesus Christ. Let me not settle for what is temporal, but let me see beyond this place and time, to the eternal hope. By faith and by revelation, I can confidently say that my hope is in the Lord, Jesus Christ, my soon coming King. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
