Scripture:

“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psa. 121:2; NKJV).

Reflections:

Nothing is so reassuring than to know that there is one who can respond to us with help that can sustain, especially in the day of our troubles and distresses in life. Just to know that the Lord is the only one that is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think; is pleasant and is sufficient for the day and even the seasons we face. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us; to Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Eph. 3:20; NKJV).
When life’s challenges present themselves, especially in the most unexpected and perplexing moments, and there are no signs of relief, who or what do you turn to? Beloved, I know of no other that can do for me far better than anyone else can, save Christ Jesus our Lord. In times of hardship and despair, I simply raise my sights and my heart unto God from whom my help is supplied. My help comes from the Lord. David the Psalmist says it well: “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help” (Psa. 121:1; NKJV). God is my All-Sufficient God and my all and in all. I have learned to release my pains, burdens, and frustrations to the true and One God who promised deliverance, help and sustenance in times of trials. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isa. 41:10; NKJV).
God is my true confidence and ultimate security in all things, no matter the extent of the challenge. Because He is the Creator of heaven and earth, I am assured and I accept by faith that God knows everything and can do every and anything that He desires, because He is Sovereign. God knows what I need ahead of time and He already has a plan to sustain and to help me, no matter the extent of the situation. Therefore, I will put my trust in Him. God Almighty has declared and promised from the beginning that I will have the things that He said that I will have and become who He said that I will become. My purpose is secured in Him and my destiny is sure. Because God said it, I believe it by faith and that settles everything.
“My help comes from the Lord.” The assurance in this prayer gives confidence in God’s unwavering promises to those who believe on Him, that as they exercise faith and trust in Him, He will provide help to those who seek Him. In other words, God’s help is defined in His protection, provision, power, purpose, favor, healings, guidance, and perpetual blessings to all who seek Him. He promised to meet the needs of those who love Him and call upon Him in truth and according to His will. “And my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:13; NKJV). God desires to prosper us while we are on our pilgrim journey as well as throughout life so that we can celebrate the richness of His presence in our endeavors to fulfill our purposes in life.
Look to the hills from whence comes your help. Your help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. Beloved, God is that help and the saving strength of His anointed. So, hold fast and wait on the Lord. I close with this glorious promise: “They that wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isa. 40:31). Hope in the Lord and wait on Him. He will exceed your expectations.

Point for Contemplation:

1. Are you in a tough season today and have nowhere to turn? What are your thoughts?
2. What have you done so far as you persevere through your dark nights? Have you identified others on similar journeys? What are your thoughts?
3. What is working for you now? What do you need to be sustained or to make it to the next moment?
4. My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth? Does this resonate within your soul? How do you understand this promise?
5. God’s help is defined in His protection, provision, power, purpose, favor, healings, guidance, and perpetual blessings to all who seek Him. Your challenges might be unbearable at times, but I encourage you to take a step toward trusting in the Lord who is your help. He will meet you just where you are.

Prayer:

Eternal God, Your grace is sufficient for me and Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. I accept Your will for my life in each situation and trust that You will sustain me through the tough times. I release my burdens to You and ask for Your help as I continue my pilgrim journey. Refresh me by the presence of Your Holy Spirit and grant that I may know You more in each season of life. Thank You for being my help and the saving strength of all those who love you and call upon Your name in truth. I pray these petitions in the name of Jesus our Lord, who is able to keep us from falling and present us faultless before the throne of Almighty God with exceeding joy. Amen.
